Breyer, Stephen (Gerald)
(n. 15 ago. 1938, San Francisco, Cal., EE.UU.).

Jurista estadounidense. Se graduó en la escuela de derecho de Harvard en 1964. Después de trabajar como asistente para Arthur J. Goldberg (1964–65), enseñó en Harvard (1967–81). Se desempeñó como asesor jurídico especial (1974–75) y asesor jurídico jefe (1979–81) del Comité Judicial del Senado de EE.UU. antes de ser designado para la Corte de Apelaciones del 1er Territorio Jurisdiccional (1980); se convirtió en su presidente en 1990. Desde 1985–89 se desempeñó en la comisión que elaboró pautas para la dictación de sentencias a nivel federal. Fue nominado para la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos de América en 1994 por el pdte. Bill Clinton. Es conocido como una persona pragmática y moderada, aceptable tanto para republicanos como para demócratas.
